Chronogram magazine October launch party

Gateway Hudson Valley was a proud sponsor of Chronogram magazine's October issue launch party that occurred on the Rondout River at The Cornell restaurant. It was a spectacular fall evening, and we connected with some wonderful community members. The October issue features a "snapshot" on the City of Kingston, its people, beautiful historic buildings, and creative offerings. Gateway is a proud member of the Kingston community!

 

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

This October marks the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Here in New York, we also celebrate Disability Rights and Employment Awareness Month (DREAM), established by Governor Kathy Hochul in 2022 to underscore both the rights of people with disabilities and the immense value they bring to the workplace. Gateway Hudson Valley was founded nearly 70 years ago by two people who had disabilities and wanted to work. Today Gateway provides many services to support adults with varying abilities but continues our core work to provide services to help adults with disabilities prepare, find, and keep employment in our community. And we are proud of our coworkers with disabilities as we celebrate the diversity in our workforce talents! 

Our Employment staff heads to Albany, NY on October 28 to the DREAM Symposium at the Empire State Concourse. We're excited to meet everyone and answer questions. 

To honor this year’s NDEAM theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” OPWDD is pleased to share two inspiring videos. These stories highlight the real impact and value that people with disabilities bring to the workplace. We are happy to share these here:

 

Gateway out and about...

Our Health Home Coordinator and Social Care Navigator joined the Ulster County Trunk or Treat event at Kingston Plaza and went all out with the Sponge Bob theme! We hope you had a chance to stop by and get some candy and meet Rhonda and Destiny. See you at future events!

 
 
 
 

Thanksgiving Lunch 

The Gateway food services team looks forward to the holiday meals offered by the Ulster County Office for the Aging. The THANKSGIVING meal is coming up soon. Here are the details:

When: Thursday, November 20, 2025

Time: 12:00-2:00pm

Where: Saugerties Community Center, 207 Market Place

Employees Nominating Employees - Congratulations Jim!

The Kudos Card Program was launched in April 2024 by Gateway's Human Resources department.

Employees are encouraged to present a Kudos Card to any other employee to show their appreciation for things like pitching in or being a great team player.  The Kudos Card can be presented to one’s manager, employee, or colleague.  Each quarter, HR draws from the submitted Kudos Cards to give the winner a $50 gift card! Jim Moore won for the third quarter of 2025!
